Florida Concert
In January 08 Anthony was delighted to be traveling to Florida for some sunshine and to perform a concert with his new band, the legendary - "House of Edgar Shotts and Dykehead Caledonia"
"We performed a 2 hour concert consisting mostly of new and untested material and were supported by "Griogair"- a hot new talent who performs Smallpipes, guitar and Gaelic voice with consumate virtuosity
The trip and especially the concert was a huge success receiving rave reviews from the pipe band world and rapturous applause from an enthralled audience.
Hogmanay 2007
BBC Scotland show Glasgow
Anthony performed live on BBC television for the world famous BBC Hogmanay production as part of the Shotts and Dykhead Pipe Band. Other artists taking the stage included Amy Macdonald with a stirring rendition of Caledonia, Marty Pello (for the ladies)and the up and coming folk superstars Dochas and Kris Drever.
Iceland
After being called up to play at one of Icelands most anticipated events- Strathclyde Pipers representatives Anthony and Ross jetted to the North Atlantic to entertain and spur on the throng of Valur FC fans. All the team had to do was defeat HK Kopavogurand on home soil and the Icelandic league title was guaranteed for the first time in almost half a century. The clubs chairmen were well advised to bring a bit of the world famous tartan army atmosphere to Rekyavik by calling upon the two young pipers to show them how how it is done.
On the match day we were accompanied by some of Icelands finest percussionists to belt out some Samba rhythms with "Carnival de Paris" and the local anthem "Vallesmen"
As it turned out FC Valur won 1-0 with a wonder strike from Scotland's very own "Barry Smith" and the stands resounded to the cries of "Barry Smith superstar, are you the one that they say you are!"
